Shoppers browse a catalog of real products, check out for $0.00, and then follow a deliberately absurd delivery across the world, a cargo ship, a customs hold, a courier with a name, a photo and a bio, that sometimes ends with the package swallowed by a whale. No payment details are collected and no money changes hands. Created in June 2026 by Arthur and Juliana, two people from Brazil · dopamine runs in 14 languages and has processed more than 32,000 orders worth exactly nothing.
the story
dopamine started from a simple joke: the pleasure of buying happens before the purchase. It's in the choosing, the adding to cart, the watching a package cross the world, not in the bill that shows up later. If the pleasure lives in the journey, you can keep just the journey.
The site was built by two people, with no funding, no company and no business plan. In June 2026 it went viral and jumped from a few dozen visits a day to more than 30,000 in a single day. It now serves people in 14 languages, and most of its audience arrives by typing the name straight into the browser.
Some people use dopamine in a way we never planned: as a pressure valve for the 1 a.m. impulse buy. We're glad it works that way, but the original intent was, and still is, to make people laugh.
